Milan / Dortmund. Within the European "Energy+ Pumps" project, the "Energy+ Award 2008" was awarded in Milan on March 11th 2008. The winner of the upper pump category (volume flow over 2.35 m3/h) is the "Wilo-Stratos 25/1-6" pump. It is available since 2001 and was presented by the Dortmund-based pump expert WILO SE as the world’s first high-efficiency pump for heating, cooling and air-conditioning applications. Since the  European energy label for heating pumps has been introduced, the "Wilo-Stratos" is the reference for the energy efficiency class A. The savings potential amounts to about 80 percent compared to uncontrolled standard pumps.

The project "Energy+ Pumps" aims at making the especially power-saving circulating pumps with electronically commuted motors (ECM) standard throughout Europe. This is how power consumption could be reduced by more than 30 TWh per year throughout the EU. The instruments are, in addition to awarding especially energy-efficient pumps with publicity effect, also an extensive information offer at http://www.energypluspumps.eu/. The project partners in Germany are the Deutsche Energie-Agentur GmbH (dena) [German Energy Agency] and the Institut für Klima, Umwelt, Energie GmbH [Institute for Climate, Environment, Energy] in Wuppertal.

 Dirk Geißler, head of marketing for Wilo, sees another important support for the HVAC craftsmen in this further award for the company’s high-efficiency pumps: "There is almost no better sales argument for the customer than the recommendation of famous and neutral institutes to replace old, uncontrolled heating pumps with our pumps of the energy efficiency class A. After the "Wilo-Stratos ECO" has by far been the most energy-efficient pump in the heating pump test for single-family and two-family houses of Stiftung Warentest, we are very happy about the "pole position" of the "Wilo-Stratos" for the upper performance range.
